On-U Sound related press releases (Part 1)
The humble press release has long been an effective tool of record companies to publicise their new wares, even now in the age of the internet. On-U Sound (right up until the label ceased to be a self-contained concern the mid 1990s) was no exception, and many a first taste of releases to come were, and still are, gleaned from the inevitable photocopied A4 sheet stuffed into sleeve of whatever the latest hot white label or promo CD offering happens to be.
Gathered here in a historically fascinating time line are a selection of On-U Sound's own press releases from across the years, alongside some of those prepared on its behalf by other organisations, but all relating to On-U product, productions, events or collaborations. In the period 1983-1986, On-U Sound branded many of its own such communications On.U Sound News & Facts Bulletins. These sheets had their own distinctive design, and many of them are also reproduced in the Image Bank, but in their own section.
